There are many ways to look at achievement in a show goat. One way that MyotonicPerformance uses is the Individual Ratio (IR).

What is Individual Ratio?

IR measures a Myotonic’s Grand Champion wins versus its show appearances. It is calculated by adding all Grand Champion wins, dividing the sum by total show appearances, and multiplying the resulting number by 100. This gives a percentage, with the highest number possible of 100, and lowest as 0.

IR is only calculated for those Myotonics that have shown in 2 or more shows. This prevents an artificially inflated IR for a Myotonic that has only been shown once and recieved a win.

There is no weight given to the type of show, so the MGR National Champion award is counted as a Grand Champion.

 Problems with Individual Ratio

IR does not take into account the number of Myotonics that were defeated in order to win the Grand Champion award. This comes into effect particularly with Wethers, where a Myotonic might win the award by default.

IR doesn’t give an accurate comparison between a Myotonics that have shown in a different number of shows. A Myotonic shown in two shows with an IR of 50.00 and a Myotonic shown in six shows with an IR of 50.0 have much different show records, but their IR is the same. The Top 10 by Individual Ratio list only allows for general comparison of standing.
